There are three possible proxy modes to select from:
| Proxy Mode | Identifier in CS4OutlookUserConfig.xml | Implications |

| No proxy | NoProxy | The Cryptshare for Outlook add-in will try to establish a direct connection to the Cryptshare serve. |
| System settings | SystemProxy | The add-in will apply the same settings regarding the use of a proxy server as set up in your Windows operating system. |
| Defined proxy | DefinedProxy | In this mode customized proxy settings can be set up for Cryptshare for Outlook. Information like the proxy server URL, proxy server port and the user name for the proxy login can be entered as well as the corresponding proxy password. |
Information such as proxy server URL, proxy server port, user name and password in the CS4OutlookUserConfig.xml or as transfer parameter during the msiexec installation only apply if the proxy mode is set to "defined".
